How To Apply For A New Emirates ID Card



Emirates ID are UAE Government-issued identity cards issued to UAE residents and citizens. All UAE citizens and residents must apply for Emirates ID. This page provides information on the features and benefits of the card, as well as how to apply.

How To Apply For A New Emirates ID Card Online

You can apply for a new Emirates ID card through the website of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security – ICP, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Visit the official website, Register and login with UAE pass.

Step 2: Go on service tab and click on Priority services.


Step 3: Click on “Apply for a New ID Card.”

Step 4: Fill out the application and pay the fees.

Step 5: Take a fingerprint and a signature

Step 7: Receive your ID Card

Emirates ID Processing Time

You will receive your Emirates ID 2 to 4 weeks after “visa stamping is completed” after the medical examination. This form may be useful for your tenancy contract.

Emirates ID Cost

Applicants must pay AED 300 for a replacement of a lost or damaged ID as well as application fees of AED 70 if applying through typing centres, or AED 40 if applying through the ICA website’s eForm. UAE nationals, GCC nationals, and expatriates are subject to these fees.

Why Do I Need The Card?

Both government and private companies require residents to present the card to prove their residency.

Emirates ID card features

In addition to accurate letters, ultra violet ink and line drawing, the identity card is equipped with state-of-the-art smart card technology. As a result of its nine security features, it is very difficult to falsify this card because they surpass the standards used in many cards today, including banking credit cards.

Emirates ID within 24 hours

 In order to issue the Emirates ID card within 24 hours, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security offers an urgent service called Fawri.

For UAE nationals and GCC nationals residing in UAE, the service is available for:

  • Registration for the first time
  • Card renewals
  • Damaged or lost cards.

The urgent service is only available to expatriate residents other than GCC nationals when replacing their identity cards because identity cards are issued or renewed based on proof of residency.

Present the required documents to the customer happiness centers of ICP without prior notice to obtain this service.

The Fawri service is available at the following ICP customer happiness centers:

  • Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi and Al Jazeera
  • Karama, Al Barsha, and Al Rashidiya in Dubai
  • Western region of Madinat Zayed
  • Centre of Al Ain
  • Centre of Sharjah
  • Centre of Ajman
  • Centre of Fujairah
  • Center for Ras Al Khaimah
  • Centre Umm Al Quwain.

Renewing Emirates ID

When can you renew your Emirates ID?

Renewal of an expired ID card must be done within 30 days of its expiration date, or late fees will apply.

When the Emirates ID expires, the holder must apply for its renewal. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) will notify you via SMS to renew your ID.

Emirates ID card replacement for lost, stolen, or damaged cards

A replacement Emirates ID card must be requested from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security- ICP as soon as possible if you have lost, stolen, or damaged your Emirates ID card. If you want to replace your Emirates ID card, follow these steps:

1. Report the incident

If the card is stolen or lost, contact the nearest ICP Customer Happiness Centre and report the incident. If you don’t have an ID number, ask ICP for a copy or a copy of your lost one. If your card is damaged, bring the old one with you. If you report the incident, make sure you have your identity documents with you.

  • Passports and family books must be brought in by UAE citizens.
  • Documents proving residency in the UAE must be provided by GCC nationals.
  • Foreign residents must bring their original passports and residency permits.
  • Providing an original birth certificate and white passport photo against a white background is required if the lost ID belongs to a child under 15.

2. Apply for ID card replacement

To request replacement of an ID card, fill out an application form at any of ICA’s Customer Happiness Centres or via the UAE ICP app available on iTunes and Google Play.

3. Pay the fees

AED 300 is required for the replacement of an ID that has been lost or damaged, as well as application fees of AED 70 when applying through typing centers, and AED 40 when applying through the ICA website’s eForm. All UAE nationals, GCC nationals and expatriates are subject to these fees. AED 150 extra is required for express ID replacement at ICA main’s Customer Happiness Centre.

4. Collect your new ID card

If the application has been submitted and the expected delivery date has been confirmed, you will receive a text message from ICP. The ID card will be issued within 48 hours of submitting the replacement application. If you apply for the express service, you will receive the ID card within 24 hours of submitting it. When the card becomes available from ICP, contact Emirates Post to receive it.

Updating details on Emirates ID

Any change in the card holder’s details must be reported to ICP’s competent department within one month of the change, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security (ICP).

You can update or modify any details on an existing and valid ID card.

Nationals and expatriates are eligible for Emirates ID cards.

Cancelling Emirates ID

In order to cancel their UAE residence visa for the purpose of leaving the country for good or to change jobs, residents must hand over their ID cards to the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs.
