Abu Dhabi Announces New Paid Parking Areas From July 29. Starting Monday, July 29, Abu Dhabi will introduce new paid parking areas in two key locations: the Khalifa Commercial District and Etihad Plaza in Khalifa City. This move, announced by authorities on Saturday, aims to regulate parking, enhance safety, and reduce instances of illegal parking.

New Paid Parking Sectors: SW2, SE45, and SE48

The introduction of paid parking will affect three sectors within these areas:

  1. Sector SE48: Located at the headquarters of Etihad Airways on Al Mireef Street, this sector includes 694 parking spaces, with three designated for people of determination.
  2. Sector SE45: Situated at Etihad Plaza between Al Mireef Street and Al Ibtisamah Street, this area comprises 1,283 parking spaces, including 17 designated for people of determination.
  3. Sector SW2: This sector is positioned between Al Marmouq Street to the west and Al Qalayid Street to the east, bounded by Theyab Bin Eissa Street to the north and Al Murahibeen Street to the south. It features 523 parking spaces, with 17 spaces allocated for people of determination.

Implementation and Infrastructure

The Abu Dhabi Mobility (AD Mobility) has announced the activation of the Mawaqif service in these sectors, with all necessary infrastructure works and signboards already installed. Mawaqif, a government entity under AD Mobility, is responsible for managing and organizing parking spaces throughout the emirate. The organization categorizes parking spaces and sets fee guidelines accordingly.

Public Awareness and Brochures

To ensure the public and businesses are informed about the new parking system, authorities have been distributing brochures detailing the changes. These materials aim to educate the community about the paid parking areas and the rules governing them.

Parking Fees and Categories

Mawaqif parking zones are typically divided into two types: premium and standard. Premium parking areas, indicated by white and blue signs, charge a fee of Dh3 per hour, with a maximum parking duration of four hours from 8 am to 12 am. Standard parking zones, marked with black and blue signs, cost Dh2 per hour or Dh15 for a 24-hour period, with free parking available on Sundays and public holidays. The specific charges for the new areas in Khalifa City are yet to be announced.

Conclusion

The introduction of paid parking in these new sectors reflects Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to enhance urban infrastructure and improve the overall parking experience. By implementing structured parking systems, the authorities aim to create a safer and more organized environment for residents and visitors alike.
